The Society of Sussex Painters. Sculptors, Printmakers & Illusatrators (SSP) comes to Newhaven's BN9 Studio in September as part of Artwave.

SSP was originally established in 1924 by twenty prominent London artists looking for respite and inspiration in the Sussex countryside, and set up as a contemporary to The Bloomsbury Group. They are now the longest running group of exhibiting artists in the county.

Today SSP keep to traditional techniques of portrait, landscape, still life painting and observational drawing, print making, sculpting, contemporary abstraction and illustration.

Many of their artists teach and sustain solo careers as well as actively exhibiting together throughout the year.


Open Tues to Sun until September 12th. 11.00am to 4.00pm Tuesday to Saturday and 11.00am to 3.00pm Sundays
