SHOP LOCAL THIS CHRISTMAS

November 16th, 2022.

Visit Lewes is launching its annual Christmas campaign to encourage shoppers to support their local independent shops in Lewes, Seaford and Newhaven.

Nearly 200 independent retailers in all three towns have been invited to take part in the promotion which celebrates our local High Streets. When out and about doing their Christmas shopping, customers are offered a stamp card which is stamped when they buy something in one of the participating shops. Once they have collected just five stamps, they are entered into a free prize draw to win a heap of gifts generously donated by the shops across the District.

Tourism & Arts Manager for Lewes District Council, Helen Browning-Smith commented: “We are delighted to be running this annual campaign to support our local businesses and our town centres in the run up to Christmas. Our aim is to encourage local customers and visitors alike to shop in our wonderful array of independent shops that are filled with unique and tempting gift ideas.

"Not only is this a positive way to support local businesses who have been facing such a hard time, but it’s a great chance for shoppers to win something for themselves while shopping for others. What better way to enjoy a warm festive glow from supporting your local High Street this Christmas.”

Stamp cards will be available from the Tourist Information Centres in Lewes and Seaford, and from participating shops. The prize draws will be made by local Mayors on the 19th and 20th of December, with winners being invited to collect their prizes before Christmas.

There will be special Christmas Shopping events in all three towns: Lewes Late Night Shopping, Thursday 1st December; Seaford Christmas Magic, Saturday 3rd December; Newhaven Christmas Extravaganza, Saturday 10th December.

The promotion is being organised by Visit Lewes, working in partnership with Lewes Chamber of Commerce, and in Newhaven, headline sponsor Morrisons Daily, a family run independent franchise in Newhaven High Street. The scheme is also generously supported by Newhaven and Seaford Chambers of Commerce, Newhaven and Seaford Town Councils, and the Lewes Pound.
