Seaford Town Council hosted this year’s Seaford Christmas Magic on Saturday the 3rd of December. Seeing the return of the street market stalls and entertainment stage back in the main streets of Seaford town, really kicked off Christmas in the town.

Children were invited to make ‘look to the stars’ lanterns in the Mercread Youth Centre with Sussex Contemporary Illustrators & Printmakers ahead of the magical lantern parade. The parade saw children marching their lanterns through the town centre, joined by the Earthquake Drummers, who lead the way to the top of Broad Street to meet the Mayor of Seaford and Seaford Rotary Father Christmas to start the countdown for switching on the Christmas lights.

A variety of live music captivated the visitors at Tansley’s Yard performance stage, hosted by Shannon Victoria with a mix of vocalists, musicians, and other contemporary performances throughout the day.

Family entertainment was provided around the town with Seaford library hosting storytime sessions for children. Life Church had a family hub with free face painting and games. Seaford Youth Forum provided Christmas biscuits for decorating and St Leonard’s Church held an ‘Unplugged’ day with messy church and crafting activities, accompanied by an eclectic mix of music and song.

If the above wasn’t enough, Archway Choir joined the festivities and performed Christmas carols in the lead up to the main Christmas light switch on.

The day was topped off with a screening of a family-favourite film, Encanto, at Seaford Community Cinema.

In addition to the Christmas Magic event, Seaford Town Council and Seaford Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual window display competition for all shops in Seaford town. This year the competition was judged by the Chamber of Commerce’s committee member Will Flowers and the Mayor of Seaford, Councillor Olivia Honeyman. First prize was won by ‘INLE’ on Clinton Place and the two runners up were Cooper & Son, funeral directors on Clinton Place and Room Interiors on High Street.
