November 19th, 2024.

James MacCleary visited Newhaven RNLI this week to meet volunteers and learn about the vital life-saving work carried out by the station, which has served the local community since 1803.

James was given a tour by Lifeboat Management Group Chair, Susan Carroll, and Lifeboat Operations Manager, Roger Cohen MBE, and explored Newhaven’s Severn Class All-Weather Lifeboat, the largest and most capable vessel in the RNLI fleet.

James MacCleary MP for Lewes said: "Newhaven RNLI is a cornerstone of our community, and it was a privilege to meet the team who work tirelessly to protect lives at sea. The bravery and commitment of these volunteers, who go out in the toughest conditions, is nothing short of remarkable.

“As MP for Lewes including coastal communities in Seaford and Newhaven, I am proud to support the RNLI’s incredible work, especially in their 200th year. I encourage everyone to consider donating to this vital charity, which relies entirely on public generosity to continue its life saving mission.”
