Responding to Rishi Sunak calling a General Election, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Lewes, James MacCleary, said: “This election is a once-in-a-generation chance to kick the Conservatives out of power and finally deliver the change our area so desperately needs. As a local resident I have seen first hand how our communities have been failed by this government.

“It’s clear that only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives in Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes, Ringmer, Willingdon and across our villages. It’s neck and neck here and every vote will count.

"Many Labour and Green Party supporters have been telling us that they will be voting for me to beat the Tories at this election and I am so grateful for that tactical support.

“After years of struggling to get a GP appointment, soaring rents and mortgages and our rivers being polluted by filthy sewage, it’s time for a change for our local communities.

"I will be out on doorsteps in the coming weeks to make my case to fellow residents that I can be the strong voice that our area needs in parliament."

The Liberal Democrats came a close second place at the last General Election in 2019 and are in pole to beat the Conservatives this time. Labour and the Green Party came a distant third place and fourth place respectively.

The Liberal Democrats are on the up after beating the Conservatives at the May local elections and winning four stunning parliamentary by-election victories since the last General Election.

Liberal Democrat candidate James MacCleary will be campaigning for action to save our NHS, tackle the cost of living crisis, and end the sewage scandal.
