James Waste Management the owner of  Unit 3 on the Cradle Hill Industrial Estate has appealed against the refusal of its planning application to demolish the existing building and rebuild it as a waste transfer station. This will be 2.5 metres higher than the existing building in order to accommodate larger lorries.

Liberal Democrat County Councillor Carolyn Lambert says: “The County Council turned down this application for good reasons. I objected to the plan, as did Seaford residents and other businesses on the Industrial Estate.

"Waste lorries are already using our narrow residential roads as a shortcut to the Industrial Estate and I hate to think what would happen with larger lorries.

"The current building is also located on an extremely sensitive site overlooking Seaford Cemetery.

"I urge people to put forward their objections to the Planning Inspectors. We do not want this waste monster in Seaford.”
