VOTERS URGED - "DON'T LOSE YOUR VOICE"

August 17th, 2021.

Residents across Lewes district are being urged to check their voter registration details are correct so they can have their say in future elections.

The annual canvass ensures that Lewes District Council keeps the electoral register updated, identifying any residents who are not registered, so that they can be encouraged to do so.

You must be registered in order to vote in elections.

The council may contact you in various ways, including by post, email, phone or by knocking on your door.

Councillor Chris Collier, (pictured), Cabinet member for Performance and People, explains: “It’s important that everybody who is eligible can cast their vote at election times. To make this happen, we need to ensure we have the correct details on the electoral register for residents across the district.”

Voters who have moved recently are particularly encouraged to look out for the voter registration messages and check the details.

Councillor Collier added: “If you need to update your details on the electoral register, please act as soon as possible to save us from issuing reminders or sending someone to visit you to get this information.”

One of the ways that you will be able to respond is using the online response service, which is hosted on behalf of the council at www.elecreg.co.uk/eastbourne

You will be asked to enter a two-part security code in your email or printed form.
