THE SHOAL HAS LANDED

May 9th, 2017.

Seaford’ is celebrating the arrival of its new Community Bench at Splash Point. Hundreds of local people packed around Splash Point Jetty last Monday to see the opening of this new sculptural seating experience.

Seaford Silver Band got the crowd singing with Sussex by the Sea and the Pop Ups sung the catchy Shoal Song. Yes, this bench has its own Song!

The Shoal was officially opened by Peter Field, the Lord Lieutenant of Sussex, accompanied by the Mayor of Seaford.

Working in partnership with Seaford Town Council and Seaford Community Partnership, Christian Funnell and Gabby Tofts designed and built this unique 16-metre-long sculpture.

The project is being funded by public sponsorship. A variety of fish shaped plaques are available to purchase, with prices from £85.00. Messages engraved on the fish celebrate all aspects of Seaford life, from births, weddings and memorials to Seaford groups and lines of poetry.

To be part of this exciting project and help The Shoal grow, more sponsorship fish plaques are needed to build phase two of The Shoal. Four more Mackerel Benches will meander to the end of Splash Point Jetty creating a seating experience with some of the most spectacular views in Sussex.
