TENNIS COACH WANTED FOR THE SALTS

February 26th, 2020.

Seaford Town Council has announced that new tennis courts are to be built at The Salts Recreation Ground as part of the ongoing Salts Improvement Plan, and with this comes a coaching contract opportunity.

With a view to successfully increasing community tennis, the Town Council is now looking to engage a tennis coach to build a successful and thriving community tennis facility, accessible to people of all ages and abilities, in line with the Lawn Tennis Association requirements.

The aim is to start work on the new tennis courts in May, in preparation for the summer. This will include three full-sized courts with flood lights, a booking system, gated access and new fencing. Storage options and toilets are within immediate proximity, as well as free car parking and a café.

The successful coaching provider will join forces with the Town Council through a service level agreement and will be entitled to use up to a maximum of 30 tennis court hours per week, with a maximum of two tennis courts being used at any time, ensuring the other tennis court is available for general use.

The initial contract period is anticipated to be from the 1st of August 2020 to the 31st of March 2022, but this is subject to works being completed on schedule and a three-month probationary period. Towards the end of the initial period a review of the service provision will take place with the possibility of extending the contract through to 2024.

The tennis coach is expected to hold an LTA Level 3 coaching qualification or above and have experience in providing community-focused tennis activities. The successful candidate will also require a DBS check in line with the Town Council’s Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy.

It is hoped to mark the Great British Tennis Weekend on the 18th and 19th of July with planned activities, but this will be confirmed nearer the time and the successful candidate would be invited to get involved in any plans.

The outline specification for this opportunity and details of the information required to submit an Expression of Interest can be found on the Town Council’s website at www.seafordtowncouncil.gov.uk/the-salts-recreation-ground/

Expressions of Interest should be submitted in writing to facilities@seafordtowncouncil.gov.uk by 5.00pm on Friday the 27th of March 2020.
