Seaford Town Council has announced that following the 2021-22 grant process, thirteen local organisations have been awarded financial grants totalling £14,914. All grants will directly benefit the residents of Seaford and the town itself.

Ambulance Responder Team was awarded £500 toward the maintenance of its 4x4 team vehicle for one year.

Bishopstone United Charities was awarded £2,000 towards the cost of re-building the stone chimneys on the Grade 2 listed Almshouse dating from 1856.

CTLA Community Transport was awarded £1,000 towards supporting the continuance of Seaford Dial-a-Ride service at its pre-COVID level of activity.

Cuckmere Buses was awarded £2,000 towards the ongoing annual running costs and to avoid deficits.

Down Syndrome Development Trust was awarded £1,000 towards supporting six Seaford-based children with Downs Syndrome and their families to access their diverse range of programmes for a period of twelve months.

Friends of Bishopstone Station was awarded £450 for 30 folding chairs as part of the overall furnishing to the unit previously known as Linda's Store, which is now to be used as a community hub.

Newhaven Lifeboat Station was awarded £1,500 towards the station’s running costs including crew kit, training, repairs and maintenance of the station and boat.

Seaford Bonfire Society was awarded £1,100 towards the first aid cover being provided at the 2021 bonfire event.

Seaford Community Partnership was awarded £400 towards their administrative costs.

Seaford Cricket Club was awarded £864 towards the purchase of a custom-made boundary rope trolley.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice was awarded £1,100 towards the purchase of diagnostic kits for community nurses working in Seaford, which will include blood pressure machines, thermometers, urinalysis sticks and blood sugar testing devices.

Teddy Treats Children’s Charity was awarded £1,000 towards supporting local children to develop creative talents with Teddy Treats Top Talent Sponsorship and to continue to provide toys at Christmas and pantomime trips for local families in need.

The Youth Counselling Project was awarded £2,000 towards virtual counselling sessions and providing sessions with qualified children's mental health and wellbeing therapists.


The Mayor of Seaford, Cllr Rodney Reed, commented: "The grant appraisal process and what we learn about the applicants and their work for our town is an encouragement to the Councillors who form the grants panel. There are very many praise-worthy things being done in Seaford by our voluntary sector. We hope that the interest we take in the work of the applicants is as useful as the money that is awarded. My thanks to all the organisations that applied for grants, and the dedication and hard work that has had such a positive impact in the community of Seaford. Whether successful or not in being awarded a grant, on behalf of the Council, I commend them all for their commitment and hard work.”
