SMASHING, LOVELY, SOUPER RNLI FUNDRAISING SUCCESS

February 9th, 2017.

Newhaven & District Lifeboat Society hosted the first event of the fundraising calendar in aid of RNLI Newhaven at the Lifeboat House on Friday the 27th of January.

The 'Souper Slurping Winter Warmer' certainly hit the right spot and was a resounding success, raising an amazing £585.00 with an additional amount of £85.00 raised from the sale of souvenirs in the lifeboat shop.

Over 100 people were welcomed at the Lifeboat House, Riverside, West Quay, Newhaven on the beautifully sunny, but cold winter day to enjoy warming soup and cheese rolls. Vouchers to cover the event expenses were generously donated by local supermarkets Morrisons Seaford, Sainsbury’s Newhaven and Waitrose Lewes. Co-op in Fort Road, Newhaven provided the delicious soups with the freshly baked rolls kindly donated by local bakery La Baguette Shop, Newhaven.

Event organiser, Paula Hillman, said: “We are always delighted to see so many people enjoying the friendly atmosphere whilst taking the opportunity to learn more about the local lifeboat service here at Newhaven.”
