SAIL CARGO RETURNS TO NEWHAVEN AS PART OF A GREEN NEW NORMAL

June 17th, 2020.

Sail Boat Project has announced the return of sail cargo vessel Gallant to Newhaven in September 2020. delivering top-quality Portuguese olive oils to Sussex.

Good food lovers are encouraged to place an order before the end of June and join the growing movement of sail cargo pioneers.

“In the face of climate breakdown, we’re proud to be part of a global movement promoting sail cargo as a close-to-zero carbon alternative to conventional polluting oil-powered transport,” explains Dhara Thompson, co-founder director of the Sail Boat Project. “We ensure that producers are guaranteed a fair price, up-front, usually 50-60% of what customers pay.

"In addition, all surplus from our sail cargo supports our Community Sailing Fund, providing health and wellbeing sailing activities to community groups in Sussex.”

The 36m Dutch-built schooner is transporting the fifth sail-powered cargo delivery to Sussex, bringing two varieties of top quality Portuguese single estate organic olive oils produced by the Reigado family and Azeite Caixeiro. The 5 litre bag-in-box and tins of oil can be purchased individually, or in bulk and shared with friends or neighbours to reduce waste and keep costs down.

All orders will be home delivered with nationwide couriers.
