REMEMBRANCE DAY AND BEACON LIGHTING IN NEWHAVEN


November 2nd 2018.



As part of the national commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the ending of the First World War, thousands of beacons will be lit across the country at 7.00pm on Remembrance Sunday, November the 11th, including one at Newhaven Fort.


The Fort doors open at 6.15pm for this Free Admission event.

First World War songs will be sung and the Fort Café will be open for refreshments.

Last Post 6.55pm – Beacon lit 7.00pm

Newhaven’s new Town Crier, Jason Ede, will perform the National Cry for Peace around the World at 7.05pm.

It may not be possible to see the beacon from the town as, if it is windy, it will be lit on the Parade Ground. The Coastwatch Tower adjacent to the Fort will be lit in red to mark the occasion.
