PROGRESS ON SEAFORD NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN - REGULATION 16 CONSULTATION

May 26th, 2019.

Seaford Town Council has submitted the Seaford Neighbourhood Plan and associated documentation to LDC to be publicised, once again, before submission for scrutiny by a Planning Examiner.

Comments have been made by the public on earlier drafts of the documents. The documents have been revised in the light of these comments. Two technical documents (Basic Conditions Statement and Consultation Statement) are published for the first time. The Consultation Statement summarises the comments made previously and the amendments made in response to these comments.

Representations on the Plan and associated documents must be made between the 24th of May and the 5th of July 2019. These will be forwarded to the Examiner. They must be emailed to ldf@lewes.gov.uk or sent by post to Julia Edwards, Neighbourhood Planning, Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes, BN7 1AB.

Seaford was designated as a Neighbourhood Area in January 2016. The Town Council has consulted widely on the development plan before reaching this stage of the neighbourhood planning process. Neighbourhood planning was introduced through the Localism Act, designed to create the conditions for local communities to have a real voice in deciding the look and feel of future development in their area. Neighbourhood plans are prepared by Town and Parish Council’s and set detailed planning policies. Plans identify new sites for employment, housing and leisure facilities, as well as identifying areas to protect and enhance. Once examined, the Seaford Neighbourhood Plan will go to Referendum to decide whether it will be ‘made’ to form part of the Local Development Plan.

Hard copies of the documents are available for inspection at TIC at 37, Church Street, Seaford, BN25 1HG, The View at Seaford Head, Seaford Library and at Lewes District Council offices at Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes, BN7 1AB.
