BRETT AGGREGATES NEW TERMINAL AT NEWHAVEN

July 17th, 2020.

Brett Aggregates has opened its new marine aggregates terminal at Newhaven Port with access to over 50mt of consented marine aggregate licence capacity.

The site is capable of receiving 10,000t cargo dredgers and is now receiving material from a range of vessels.

This new terminal is claimed to be good news for East Sussex as Oliver Brown, Development Director for the Brett Group explains, “Construction materials are important to the local economy and some 1.4 million tonnes of sand and gravel are required by East Sussex each year to meet construction demand. This Brett investment means that aggregates can now be brought into the heart of the market rather than using lorries to bring materials into the county and significantly strengthens the aggregate supply base for East Sussex, which is increasingly reliant on marine (as opposed to land-based) aggregates.”

Establishment works at the Newhaven Port site were completed in June 2020 and include a bespoke aggregate processing plant and incorporating processing components and design to significantly minimise noise generated by the activity.
