November 19th, 2018.

The regeneration of Newhaven town centre took another positive step forward this week with the official opening of a new Londis Supermarket in the High Street, on the site of the old Post Office.

Newhaven Town Mayor and Councillor Paul Boswell, who owns and runs Meeching Estate Agents in the town, cut the ribbon to declare the store open with supermarket owner Laurence Pulling, partner Amy and their children and staff for the event on Saturday at 10.00am.

Said Cllr Boswell: “Laurence has been a long-time business owner in Newhaven, firstly with I Like a Pizza, I like a Sweetie and the Premier Supermarket and we wish him and Amy, plus all who shop here, good fortune for the future. This is a wonderful boost to the town of Newhaven.”

Mr Pulling added: “Thank you to everyone who has come to join us today and we welcome you into our new supermarket and look forward to seeing you all in the future.”

The event also included a large attraction of free goodie bags, free cholate buttons from the Crème Egg, birds of prey display and other free tasting stands.

Londis Newhaven, which has a large selection of fresh, chilled and frozen food, is one of 1800 nationwide independently owned from the supermarket franchise that was formed in 1959.

Opening times are 7.00am-11.00pm Monday-Saturday and 8.0am-10.00pm Sunday.
