RE-CYCLE YOUR CYCLES

February 20th, 2017.

Sussex Community Development Association, (SCDA), has received funding to run a bicycle recycle project to help unemployed and socially inactive members of the community gain work skills and training.

Re-Cycle, part of a wider project called Get Socially Active, is a community initiative that provides an environmentally friendly means of recycling unwanted bikes. Bicycles are donated to the project and refurbished by the SCDA service team with support of volunteers wanting to gain work experience. The project provides a hands-on training opportunity to gain new skills and experience.

Re-Cycle, delivered in partnership with Friends Centre, is part of the Building Better Opportunities programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund.

George Stonehouse, Re-Cycle Client Advisor says, "This is an exciting project that will enable members of our community to gain valuable experience and skills in a hands-on way. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have experience in fixing bicycles. It is a great opportunity to get involved with a community project and get work related qualifications out of it."

If you have an unwanted bike that you could donate please contact George on 01273 516347.
