NEW YOUNG MAYOR FOR SEAFORD

July 24th, 2020.

Chanel Pritchard, previously the Deputy Young Mayor 2019-2020, took over the reins and became Seaford Young Mayor 2020-2021 in May of this year. Unfortunately, like so many things, this occurred during the Covid-19 lockdown, but this has not quashed Chanel’s enthusiasm for the role as she sets out her fundraising plans for the year, all in aid of her chosen charity the Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance - a worthy cause that is very personal for her.

Elections for the 2020-2021 Deputy Young Mayor were paused at Seaford Head School due to the school’s closure. However, the 2019-2020 Young Mayor, James Jenkins kindly agreed to stand in as a deputy for Chanel and support her activities until the elections can take place.

Chanel is quoted as saying: “I would like to thank James Jenkins for everything he has taught me over the past year. It has been amazing to work with him and be his deputy. I have learnt so much and congratulate him on his achievements.”

Chanel has been creative in adapting to the current restrictions, which are not going to hold her back as she sets out her plans for fundraising activities which include:

- Virtual Quiz nights via social media

- Virtual fundraisers such as prize draws and auctions

- A sponsored walk

- Collecting crisp packets (please save any crisp packets (collected flat), hold onto these until it is safe for them to be collected/dropped off and keep an eye on the Seaford Young Mayor Facebook page for updates)

As restrictions ease, and if later in the year physical events can take place, Chanel will adapt her activities and continue to raise funds for her chosen charity.
