NEWHAVEN FISH FESTIVAL

May 28th, 2019.

Final preparations are underway for this year’s Newhaven Fish Festival at West Quay lawns on Saturday the 15th of June  from 10.00am through to 3.00pm.

This popular annual event, celebrating Newhaven’s fishing industry, is organised by Sussex Community Development (SCDA) and is now in its 16th year.

This year's event will include many of its old favourites such as the Children’s Parade, which will march from Denton Island Community Centre through the town and onto West Quay - meeting at 9.30am and beginning at 9.45am. This year’s theme is ‘A Rainbow of Fish’ and all children are welcome. Email communityactivities@sussexcommunity.org.uk if you would like to take part.

Attractions include community group stalls, local businesses, art displays, children and youth activities, bouncy castle and live entertainment throughout the day on the green. The Marquee this year will be dedicated to local fish sales from Bickerstaff’s fish display, Olly’s Fish Shack and food and refreshments.

Carly Norris, SCDA Community Development Worker explains: "We are really looking forward to another exciting and enjoyable Newhaven Fish Festival. A massive thank you to Veolia and Rampion who are supporting this significant community event again this year. This is a free event and car parks in Newhaven Town centre will also be free on the day. This creates a perfect opportunity to come together and enjoy a fun day out. We look forward to seeing you all there."
