Following a summer of renovation and upgrades, Newhaven Football Club will hold the official opening ceremony of its new stadium and facilities on Friday the 26th of August.

Over the past few months, a state-of-the-art 3G playing surface has been installed at the club’s Fort Road ground, while an overhaul of the clubhouse, changing rooms and other facilities has transformed the stadium.

As part of the opening celebrations, a Newhaven Volunteers XI will play a charity match against Sands United; a Brighton-based team set up to help grieving fathers and their families through football.

Kicking off at 19:30, all the gate receipts taken on the night will be split between two of Newhaven FC’s partner charities; Sands United and Ronald McDonald House, a facility which allows families to stay nearby while their children are in hospital. Collection buckets will be passed around the crowd while the game is in progress.

Before the match, local dignitaries will be invited to a tour of the new facilities, while Newhaven FC officials will be on hand to answer any questions about the new stadium and the club’s plans for the future.

While Friday the 26th of August marks the official opening of the new-and-improved ground, the first match takes place on Tuesday the 23rd of August, when the men’s first team entertain Little Common in a Southern Combination Football League Premier Division match.
