LDC LAUNCHES NEW TEAM OF COMMUNITY ADVISORS

March 22nd, 2018.

Neighbourhood First is a new team of community advisors being launched by Lewes District Council next month. The team will work within communities to improve neighbourhoods and act as a link with the council. Advisors will work alongside a range of volunteers, groups and other council staff to maintain the quality of the environment and provide help and advice to local residents.

The leader of Lewes District Council, Councillor Andy Smith, will officially launch the new service at Saxon House in Newhaven, on Tuesday the 3rd of April.

Cllr Smith said: “This is a fantastic new initiative that will be of real benefit to residents in the district. As well as assisting on a range of issues, Neighbourhood Advisors can carry out inspections on local streets and open spaces to make sure issues such as littering, and graffiti are quickly addressed.

“They can also give advice on access issues to local support services and attend community, town and parish council meetings.”

Neighbourhood Advisors can help and assist residents to try and resolve a range of issues, such as:
• Dog fouling
• Fly-tipping
• Littering and street cleaning
• Abandoned vehicles
• Fallen down trees
