HIGH TREES GARDEN SEAFORD OPENS FOR ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH UK

May 30th, 2019.

High Trees Garden in Seaford will be opening its gates again this year on Saturday the 29th of June to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Garden owners, Susan and Tony Luckin have been opening their garden since 2013 for charitable causes. The garden raised a total of £1300 for charity in 2018, with £875 raised for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the beautiful gardens, secret woodland and serene koi pond as well as discovering a brand new feature for 2019. “We like to add something new to the garden each year to provide interest and a new focal point to attract regular visitors,” explained Tony. Tea and delicious homemade cakes will be baked once again by Dominic Avey, Young Mayor of Seaford, which proved a huge success in 2018. There will also be plants and homemade cards for sale and a raffle.

All proceeds from the event will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK, which powers world class studies focusing on prevention, diagnosis and treatments for dementia. There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. One in three people over 65 in the UK will die with some form of the condition.

Susan says, “Like many families, we have first-hand experience caring for relatives living with dementia. We are fortunate that by sharing our love of gardening with others, we are able to raise funds to contribute to research that hopefully will cure this dreadful disease.”

Ian Wilson, Executive Director of Fundraising and Communications at Alzheimer’s Research UK said: “We are so grateful to Susan and Tony for supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK once again by opening up their beautiful garden. Dementia affects a significant proportion of the population, yet wonderful fundraising efforts such as this will help us to deliver those life-changing research breakthroughs for people with dementia.”
