FRIENDS OF TIDE MILLS DECEMBER MEETING

December 16th, 2019.

Jim Skinner reports:

The Friends of Tide Mills completed its last meeting of 2019 yesterday. Ten of us collected six bags of assorted litter and other bulkier items in almost impossible weather, as always mostly blown in from that huge waste bin off our shore; the sea....

After our meeting we participated in our annual Christmas Picnic, which very fortunately was in temporarily dry and sunny conditions, which is always a very good and enjoyable way of ending our year.

I would like to extend a warm message of gratitude and seasons greetings to our volunteers and also all those briliant visitors who, like us, very much appreciate this special place of Tide Mills, and especially all those who take the time to take both their own and other litter home with them when visiting. We also very much thank those dog owners who clean up after their dogs. Of course, as everywhere, there a few who still do not get the message that it is the right thing to do.....

Unfortunately this year Tide Mills has come under increased threat of future development and as a result pressure of disturbance of remaining open space is likewise increasing. The Friends will continue to do all it can to voice its concerns whenever opportunity arises, and it is the case now that we are consulted whenever such proposals are received. Obviously the more we are, the louder voice we have, so please do consider joining us by becoming a Tide Mills Guardian. You will be made most welcome, no matter how much time you can spare.

Our next  and first meting of 2020 - our 15th year of existence! - is Sunday the 19th of January - always the third Sunday of the month. Please do consider coming along to help us in our efforts to keep Tide Mills cared for and championed. You will be most welcome.
