FRIENDS OF TIDE MILLS AUGUST MEETING

August 19th, 2019.

Report by Jim Skinner:

The Friends of Tide Mills completed the August meeting yesterday in typical August weather. Fifteen of us collected eight bags of rubbish, which given it is now well into the main holiday season is not too bad and quite heartening for us, and indeed all who appreciate this wonderful open space.

Very sadly, we uncovered three large bags of rubbish recently hidden within the ruins of the old Tide Mills village itself. Why hide rubbish we ask ourselves? Surely these items could have been taken to the litter bin very close by, or just left on the path where they would have been picked up by ourselves or others........

We have now recovered our Ringed Plover nesting signs and, as reported last month, are very happy to report another successful breeding season for these little birds. We thank everybody who took care around the nesting sites again this year. Little things like this do make a difference and help to keep Tide Mills so attractive for, not just us humans, but the wildlife as well.

Our next meeting is Sunday the 15th of September - always the third Sunday of the month. Please do come along to help us in our efforts to keep Tide Mills cared for. You will be most welcome.
