A Seaford estate agency is working with a local foodbank to offer support to people and families in the run up to Christmas.

Newberry Tully Estate Agents is at 53 Church Street in Seaford and has become a collection point for Seahaven Storehouse which gives food parcels to people who find themselves in tough financial situations.

The foodbank is based at Seaford Community Church, 115-117 Vale Road.

Stephen Newberry, who has been an estate agent in the town since 1987 said: “We supported the foodbank last year and thought it was a great idea to run the campaign again.

“There is still a rising number of people needing support from foodbanks to simply get by.

“We were so impressed with the fantastic work the volunteers at Seahaven Storehouse do and we were very keen to offer our support again.

“We will be accepting donations at our office throughout November and December and publicising the work Seahaven Storehouse does as much as we can.”

Andrew Tully added: “Seahaven Storehouse is a small charity run by local people for local people and from what we experienced by getting involved last year it really is making a big, positive difference to many members of our community.”

The Storehouse’s founder, Dawn Woodgate, said: “We have provided food parcels for people in crisis across Seaford, Newhaven and Peacehaven for the past five years but demand has grown recently.

“We are open between 10am-1pm on Thursdays and everyone is welcome to pop in and visit us for a cup of tea and to see what we do and how we help people.

“Having the support of local people and businesses like Newberry Tully is vital to help us to continue helping individuals, couples and families who are in need. We thank them for supporting our efforts again this year."
