Denton Island Nursery is celebrating 20 years serving Newhaven’s local children and families. Part of SCDA (Sussex Community Development Association), Denton Island Nursery is a community based nursery aiming to provide a fun, vibrant, messy-play environment and provide children with opportunities for challenge and risk, learning through play and experiencing the natural and social world around them.

Sarah Cockram, Nursery Manager, together with Deputy Manager, Sarah Wood, also celebrated their 20th anniversaries with the Nursery and SCDA, and form part of a long-standing, and professional team of Early Years Educators.

Sarah Cockram, Nursery Manager said, “We are so excited to mark the 20th anniversary at Denton Island Nursery with our amazing team and with the children and families. We are proud to be Ofsted rated ‘Good’, as well as having a wonderful, committed team of staff. A huge thank you to the team and here’s to another twenty years!”

Penny Shimmin, SCDA CEO added, “With over 3,500 children attending Denton Island Nursery over the last twenty years, we are rightly celebrating the achievements of Sarah and the team. The education they provide in these crucial early years helps to give children the tools to succeed in learning at school, socialising successfully and becoming happier, well-rounded adults.”
