CHILDREN GET THE VOTE TOMORROW!

July 7th, 2017.

South Heighton Parish Council will have a stall at tomorrow's South Heighton Summer Fete and are inviting children to vote for their favourite play equipment.

Following a grant from the Newhaven Community Fund of £119,000 to improve The Hollow recreation ground and play area the Council is planning substantial improvements and wants to find out what the local community’s, and especially the children’s’, priorities are.

Chairman Councillor Chris Bradshaw explains: “We had a really encouraging response from children voting at the Denton Challenge in June and this will be the last chance for children to vote before we start to draw up plans for the play area at The Hollow.

"Hopefully, children will also bring their parents to see what else is planned there and for the Village Green. So far children have voted a new dinosaur play feature as their favourite, but there is also support for the helicopter climbing frame that has been a feature of the play area for many years. We may not be able to provide everything they want, but we would like to reflect what the children like best and their voting will help us do that.

"Our objective is to make the park a place the whole family can enjoy.”

The park proposals are all part of the Council’s review of its Parish Plan and they are asking for the views and ideas of local residents. The Council will use this information to help choose the new equipment, draw up draft plans and use the grant to turn The Hollow into a “Park for Tomorrow”.

Children can go along and vote and parents can make their comments at the Parish Council’s stall at the South Heighton Village Fete from 1.00pm to 4.00pm, tomorrow, Saturday the 8th of July at The Hollow, South Heighton.
