Over 700 people visited Newhaven Fort to attend Brewhaven, the first Sussex-based craft beer festival.

The event on Saturday October the 16th was a sell-out success, with visitors sampling 15 of the finest craft beers from the local area. Guests also got to experience a variety of Sussex-produced food and despite a damp start to the day, were able to enjoy the autumn sunshine.

James MacCleary, Newhaven councillor and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Prosperity, said: “It was a wonderful event. It was really nice to see so many families for the daytime session in particular. Some people like to talk Newhaven down but here we have an event that brought over 700 people to our historic Fort. People travelled from Brighton, London and elsewhere to attend and it was a great opportunity to showcase our town at its best.

“The tickets for this year sold out incredibly quickly and the feedback we’ve had from the brewers who came has been very positive. I am already looking forward to next year’s event and exploring how we can make it even bigger and better than this year.”
