APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR LATEST COVID-19 BUSINESS GRANTS

November 13th, 2020.

The application process for the recently announced Local Restriction Support Grants is now open and can be accessed via the Lewes District Council website.

Businesses that the government have said must close during the current lockdown can apply for grants of up to £3,000 per month.

The criteria for the scheme has been set by the government and is based on the rateable value of the business property, with different levels of payments being made for those under £15,000, between £15,000 and £51,000 and those over £51,000.

All applications must be made by December the 2nd.

Councillor James MacCleary, Leader of Lewes District Council, said: “Our officers have again excelled themselves in getting the online portal for applications up and running so quickly.

“I know many business owners are disappointed that the grants are not bigger, but I would still urge any who think they are eligible to get their application in as soon as possible, the deadline of December the 2nd is not far away.

“We are also mindful that a number of businesses in the district have not received any Covid-19 grant funding at all and this council, along with others continue to lobby government that further support is required.”

Details of the scheme including the eligibility criteria and how to claim can be found HERE.

Anyone who experiences difficulties when applying should email specialistrevs@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk with their business details, including their business rates account number.

The council is also in the process of developing a policy for Additional Restrictions Grant which is a discretionary scheme to support non-rateable businesses - more details will be available on the council’s website later next week.
