ANNECY GRANT AWARD

May 28th, 2021.

Annecy Catholic Primary School in Seaford has been awarded a Local School Nature Grant, thanks to players of the People's Postcode Lottery.

Pupils will be benefitting from two catapults, a Get Growing Kit, two gardening kits and books on how to support learning outside the classroom, which will be used to develop the school's outdoor provision from Reception through to Year 6.

Staff will also receive training on “How to bring gardening into your school curriculum”.

Pupils played an important role in applying for the grant, and selected equipment they felt would benefit their peers. Valentina and Grace, (pictured), both aged 8, said, “We feel really excited because this will be useful.” Valentina said, “We can use the catapult to measure how far things go.” Grace added, “And the gardening items will help the bugs because they can nibble on the plants!”

Mr Gallagher, Headteacher, said, “I am so proud of our school family. The children are so passionate about making a positive change to their environment and take an active role in promoting climate action. This grant will enable us to move things on further.”

The project is run by Learning through Landscapes and funded by People's Postcode Lottery, Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, Postcode Places Trust, Postcode Society Trust, Postcode Local Trust or Postcode Community Trust, all of which receive funding from players of People's Postcode Lottery.

The school would also like to thank Dinah and Margery from On The Verge - www.seafuture.org/on-the-verge - for their guidance and support in developing the outside space and helping clarify ideas.
